I have grown up with 4 generations of pipers in my family, this has allowed me to understand the passion that pipers have with their instrument. Using the knowledge I have gained over the years I have turned this into starting my own company, Solo Bagpipe Covers, in 2017.
I have now designed my own bagpipe covers in many variations, colours and textures. The designs have all been created with the comfort and usability of the piper in mind.
Through working closely with pipers I noticed a problem occurring regularly in the unpredictable Scottish weather, where the bagpipes would get soaked through and ruined. At the Highland games on the Isle of Arran the pipeband was marching along the front and a sudden downpour came on with no time to put on their capes. I thought what can be done to protect the reed and sheepskin from being soaked hidden away, but there if caught out. This gave me the idea to create the Drizzle Sleeve ®, a protective hidden inner lining, which is breathable and keeps your reed dry in the worst weather conditions.
